The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is a one-of-a-kind organization, distinctive in its approach to science. Researchers at Stowers aim to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease.
Funding this type of research is considered an investment in the future, and though expensive its costs pale in comparison to the long-term costs of providing health care for the millions of people suffering from currently incurable diseases.
Discoveries resulting from fundamental research frequently prove to be major milestones along the path toward novel therapies and cures. Take for example the polio vaccine, whose development depended on first understanding the cause of the disease and the three types of poliovirus. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is another example of what research can do to improve health care. Initially used only in research laboratories to study chemicals in test tubes, it now provides detailed pictures of the body’s interior that allow physicians and medical providers to make informed decisions about treatments.
With your help, we want to accelerate life-changing discoveries and improve the future of human health. Together, we can provide hope for better lives, healthier lives, and happier lives.
Hope Shares for Science
No matter how large or small your gifts, you will be forever remembered for making possible the research that provides Hope for Life.
A tax-deductible donation maybe made in your name or in memory or honor of someone you love. Extraordinary gifts may be recognized with naming opportunities on our campus, or by associating your name, or that of someone you wish to honor, with a specific research project or lecture series. We also welcome your interest in assisting the Institute through bequests, trusts or gifts of stock.
